What is UX?

User Experience is a very broad term that tries to define objectives and business goals in order the align them with the needs or pains of the users. It’s the experience we offer through our product or service to our users.
Every product we use, every service has or offers an experience, it doesn’t matter how good the idea, or service, if the experience is bad the business will fail.

When trying to define what is UX, we should talk about two questions:

What does it do?
Figuring out what something does. Strategy and Definition.

How does it feel?
How it feels to use it, which is more qualitative and about design.

It is important as well, to define key elements involved in the UX process such as:

Strategic UX
First step of the project, tries to define objectives and business goals in order the align them with the needs or pains of the users. Answers question such as:

  • Define our main goal
  • Opportunities
  • How to achieve our goals
  • Strategy
  • Success measure factor

Interactive Design.
Interactive design is more tactic, it’s about defining characteristics, interactions and interfaces.Answers question such as:

  • Solutions
  • Tactics
  • Design

Usability or User Testing

It's a very valuable tool used to obtain information from our potential user in order to create our strategy, goals and designs.


Information Architecture

Every great experience has a great base. Think of it as a more complex site map.

Other key factors that may affect how we apply UX

  • Client - client type: startup , existing business, etc.
  • Project Size - how many people is involved in the project
  • Culture - how formal or informal is the communication with the other people involved.

The UX process should be a flexible process where we:

  • Learn 
  • Execute ( prototype)
  • Repeat the process
  • Get feedback

And once we achieve an “ideal’ prototype we can move on to the next phase of any digital product which is the development.
